A Whole Lot of Snow!

We have about 6 inches of snow on the ground. So we made a sled for Bubby and took him for a ride! He wasn't too sure about the whole thing. He did get a little excited when he knew we were going back inside! I think 6 inches was a bit too much snow for Bubby. It started snowing Saturday afternoon and didn't stop until late Sunday evening. We usually do not get this much snow. I heard that we generally get only 3 inches a year. It is a very pretty sight, thank goodness I don't need to go anywhere!

Check out the pictures from around our yard.

I got Bubby inside and took off his top layer of clothes. And, to my delight, his first layer was still dry. While I was taking all of my layers off, I let him go up the stairs on his own. He usually goes straight to the cabinet with the pots and pans, so I was not too worried.

But, OF COURSE, by the time I got up to the kitchen, he was no longer dry! Yum. Yum. Dog food.

the small business owners need our help

I saw this at Cool Mom Picks today... (Click here for the article)

With all of the problems last year concerning toys, Congress passed the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) in August, 2008. This will require toy makers to test and certify all toys using a third party. While this will be an easy task for large companies, the small American, Canadian and European toymakers will probably go out of business because of the costs of the testing.

Please help! Especially my friends in Louisiana and Texas. You have congressmen on the Consumer Protection Subcommittee! consumer protection subcommittee

Handmade Toy Alliance

Thanks! I love the homemade toys and supporting the small business owners!

So cliché...Time flies when you have a baby

Just sitting here thinking about how time has just flown by since Bubby was born. It has been almost 14 months. How is that even possible? Just one year ago, he was this little, chubby baby that wanted to sleep all of the time. Well, he at least wanted to sleep 3 hours at a time which meant not much sleep for me.

Now, Bubby will be 14 months old this week. He still doesn't like to sleep all the way through the night. But that is where the similarities end. He is such a funny character. He knows that he can make us all laugh. And he is such a flirt. Wow, I am in trouble when he gets older!

I am in such awe of this kid. What a precious miracle it is to be his Momma!

There is an online baby shower for Kristen of Motherhood Uncensored and Rebecca of Girl’s Gone Child. Cool Mom Picks has asked their readers to tell stories about those new baby days. I have been reminicing for days, so what a great excuse to blog about it! Thanks CMP!

first try with a fork

Hmmm...What do I have here? Momma called it a fork.

Chevy is waiting patiently a few feet away.

OH!! I get it. How cool is this? I can stab my food with this?

Who am I kidding. It is much more fun to dump my food onto the tray and eat with my fingers!

(Notice the plate, fork and cup are all on the floor as Bubby is feeding Chevy the rest of his dinner.)

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Just in case you wanted to know...

When Bubby was born, Dr. Brock and Dr. Yosha had the radio playing. While he was taking his very first breath and letting out his first cry, Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole was playing. I have loved this version since this Gentle Giant released it in 1993. How fitting that it was on the radio when my son was born!

Here is a picture taken just an hour after that moment

Coolin' Down on a Hot Day

Today, the weather was a bit hot. It got up to 88 degrees! So, Bubby got his very own pool. We went up to Nana & Papa's house to play in the water. This little boy turned into a prune. He stayed in his Frog Pool for at least an hour. We may have to do this again tomorrow and Saturday. The weather forecast calls for over 90. Maybe I can get into that pool, too!
