My Momma's Birthday Present
I have been in a really crafty mood lately.
I made a cute card for my great aunt's birthday. My cousin had her 40th birthday, so I made her a journal book kind of thing. And just this past Wednesday was my momma's 60th birthday. I had a hunk of wood, a dremel and a wood burning tool.
This is what I came up with...
She really likes chickadees. There are little chickadee figurines, cards, stuffed animals and pins all around her house. Naturally, I had to put a chickadee on this piece of wood.

I saw, somewhere on the world wide web, a site selling wood frames made from rough pieces of wood. I figured that I could do something similar (and not pay the $100000000000 they were asking for). This is the progress that I had made before James took over. He finished this frame and the second one in less time that it took me to do the 2/3 of this one!

And here is the final product!
I think it turned out absolutely fantastic!

Rainbow Cake

Check out my rainbow cake! How cool is this? I found a blog on how to make this cake. Their cake was a two layer, too many steps, fun cake. Really, all you need to do is...
1. Make a regular white cake mix.
2. Make 6 portions of that mix in separate bowls, one smaller than the next.
3. Color each bowl of mix. If you want a rainbow cake, color the largest portion purple. The next bowl (smaller than the previous bowl) will be blue. The next bowl (even smaller still) will be green. Then yellow, orange, and red.
4. Pour the purple mix in the center of the pan. (I think a round pan works best.)
5. Pour the blue mix on top of the purple. Do not mix or spread around.
6. Continue with each color.
7. Follow the baking directions on the box.
8. Frost at will.
